Home Photography Tips

So, I've been stalking Veronika on Instagram for many months, and for my birthday this year I suggested my husband gift me with a voucher for a family photo shoot with her.

Pop your email address below to download some quick tips Veronika has been kind enough to share with me that will well and truly get you on your way to taking gorgeous family snaps at home, using nothing more than your smartphone!

However, now with all of this social isolation stuff going on, we've had to put our shoot on hold, and it got me thinking, although our family shoot isn't time sensitive, how about all those mums out there that were booked in for either a maternity, birth or newborn photography session? I would be devastated if I missed out on my session with Veronika for one of these occasions!

I reached out to Veronika to ask if she'd be kind enough to put together some hints and tips for home photography, and lucky for all of us she jumped at the chance.

In the meantime, let me introduce you to the beautiful Veronika Sanderson....

Hi there!

My name is Veronika and I am a lifestyle family and birth photographer, based in Melbourne Australia.
What I love more than anything is capturing all those incredible moments in people’s lives that if you blink, you’ll miss - families, newborns and most importantly birth. I feel I'm meant to be around birthing mothers…

What I love more than anything is capturing all those incredible moments in people’s lives that if you blink, you’ll miss - families, newborns and most importantly birth. I feel I meant to be around birthing mothers…

Did I miss my calling to be a midwife? I'll never know, however, the first time I saw a birth photographed, I was hooked and I knew this is something I MUST do. I can’t really explain the feeling but there is just something so
surreal about being in a room with a birthing mother as she brings new life into the world. The privilege in sharing that sacred space and capturing that moment, will never be lost on me.

We are now facing more challenging times than ever, it breaks my heart knowing many clients will not get the opportunity to have their journeys captured however it’s essential we all keep safe and healthy. So whilst I can't be there in person to capture these moments for you, I’d love to share some simple photography tips so you can take photos at home in your own environment with the resources that are available. Don’t worry about having the best equipment, all you’ll need is a phone with a camera, some window light and YOU!

Veronika is a photographer at Veronika Sanderson Photography and Birth Photography Collective
